The Northampton Saints claimed a second ever Premiership rugby title with a 25 – 21 win over Bath Rugby at Twickenham.
Despite having a man advantage for the bulk of the contest following a red card to Bath prop Beno Obano in the 21st minute, the Saints struggled to find their usually slick attacking rhythm.
The Saints struggles were down in large part to the exceptional defensive effort of Bath who pinned their opponents back with a clever kicking game.
Despite coming close on several occasions it would take until the 76th minute for the Saints to breakdown the Bath defence.
Playing the role of hero for his team was 21-year-old back three flyer George Hendy who split open Bath with a moment of individual brilliance. Breaking through the line, Hendy took the ball from just inside his half right up inside the Bath twenty-two before finding support from scrumhalf Alex Mitchell who pounced for what proved to be the match winning score.

Having already set up the crucial try, Hendy would go on to have the final match sealing action as he stripped Bath’s Orlando Bailey with time expired.

Despite being on for just thirty-five minutes, Hendy was named player of the match for his superb clutch moments.
